About Girl Meets World

Girl Meets World Cast

Girl Meets World is a Disney Channel series which carries on from the '90s ABC sitcom Boy Meets World, which followed Cory Matthews as he grew into adulthood. Starting fourteen years after Boy Meets World left off, Girl Meets World follows Riley Matthews, Cory and Topanga's daughter, as she faces growing up in her world. Girl Meets World is now in its second season on Disney Channel.

Riley and her best friend, Maya, are students at Manhattan's John Quincy Adams Middle School, where Cory is also their history teacher. Cory and Topanga now have two children, Riley and Auggie. While Cory struggles to balance his role in the classroom and home as Riley's dad and teacher, Topanga is busy juggling family life with her career as a lawyer and a bakery owner.

Girl Meets World stars Rowan Blanchard as Riley Matthews, Sabrina Carpenter as Maya, Peyton Meyer as Lucas Friar, August Maturo as Auggie Matthews, Corey Fogelmanis as Farkle Minkus, and Boy Meets World's Danielle Fishel as Topanga and Ben Savage as Cory.

Girl Meets World was created by Boy Meets World creators Michael Jacobs and April Kelly.

Girl Meets World Cast

Season 1

Girl Meets World begins with Cory's classroom in upheaval as Maya starts a rebellion against homework and an attractive young man, Lucas, joins the class and instantly attracts the attention of Riley. Throughout the first season,  Riley's interest in Lucas plays a key role as she considers whether she's ready to start dating. Cory and Topanga both struggle at times as they see their children, Riley and Auggie, growing up and maturing. Cory is reluctant to see Riley enter the dating world, while Topanga worries that even Auggie seems to have paired off with Ava. Maya and Riley both receive the attention of Farkle, their friend and - he hopes - future boyfriend.

Throughout their seventh grade year, the kids learn a number of lessons both inside and outside the classroom. Riley faces up to feelings of jealousy when another girl shows an interest in Lucas. Riley and Maya learn about the importance of truth when they lie to Farkle about his acting skills. Riley confronts her place in the "popular" circle at school. The kids learn importance of social values when they're set the assignment of creating a company.  The kids also learn the importance of an honest day's work when they're sent to help the school's lunch ladies and janitor, Harley Keiner. Throughout the year, the kids realize the value of friendship and being there for friends. When Farkle is teased for being different, Riley, Maya and Lucas rally to show him how it's their unique qualities that make them who they are.

Cory and Topanga are reunited with an old classmate, Stuart Minkus, who also happens to be Farkle's father. Although Minkus is wildly rich and successful, he's somewhat bitter than Topanga chose Cory over him. Another face from Cory's past shows up at the school in the shape of Harley Keiner, now the school janitor, who used to bully Cory ("baboon") in high school.

When he visits for the holidays, Shawn Hunter bonds with Riley for the first time and takes a likening to Maya. When Shawn is back on a return visit, Cory and Riley covertly work to set him up with Maya's mother.

Alan, Amy and Joshua visit Cory and Topanga for Christmas dinner. Although Alan and Amy are enjoying being grandparents to Riley and Auggie, they're also still in the parenting stage with Joshua. Maya takes a shine to Joshua, though he insists he's too old for her.

Girl Meets World Season 2

Season 2

The second season sees a new school year for Riley and friends, along with a new teacher and a new classmate with a revelation about Lucas. Riley and Lucas's relationship takes a step forward and then a step back when they both realize they are more comfortable being friends. Cory, Topanga, Shawn and the kids travel to Philadelphia to dig up a time capsule buried fifteen years ago in Mr. Feeny's backyard. Cory's big brother Eric, who still calls up on his Plays with Squirrels persona, visits to help reunite Riley and Maya after an argument.
